Carole Maggio Facercise: The Dynamic Muscle-Toning Program for Renewed Vitality and a More Youthful Appearance (Revised, Updated) [Paperback 2002]
Rave Reviews (29)*
1) THANK YOU CAROLE!
by Anonymous on January 07 2000
210+ helpful votesI read Carole's book and was impressed not only with the exercises but the information I received regarding what happens to our face as we age and the valuable tips on keeping those wrinkles from getting worse. I found the suggestion for putting cloth tape between your brows at night very helpful, and it works! However, I do agree with the readers who questioned the photos in her book. I feel they were an unfortunate mistake and would have liked to see pictures taken after 6 months or so -- without the benefit of makeup!
I have been doing the exercises for five months now and am happy with the results achieved. I guess I am realistic in that I did not expect miracles. Do I look 5 or 10 years younger? NO! Did I get rid of the fat deposits under my Chin? NO! (Only liposuction can help in that area.) Does everyone gasp when they see the results? NO! The differences I have noticed are: my face seems tighter and much more toned, the color of my complexion has changed for the better, my cheekbones are more prominent and my jaw line has improved. I love the results, and that's what matters.
I'm going to continue my routine and want to thank Carole for sharing her exercises with us -- she could have kept them to herself you know!
I hope this review helps.
2) Facercise can work wonders if done properly and consistently
by Anonymous on April 19 2000
110+ helpful votesI had to write to say how wonderful the Facercise program really is. I'm a 37 year old single woman who has lost 10 years off her face thanks to Carole Maggio! When I first purchased her book I didn't think it was possible to realize these results, but thankfully -- time has proven me wrong! The exercises are easy to do and very portable. When I travel, I just bring along my "Walkman" and do them in my hotel room or where ever I'm staying. The new me has created quite a stir in my personal life, as well as in my business career. I'm constantly complimented on how great I look even when I DON'T have on makeup -- now that's telling you something. Anyone who has had a bad experience with this program is someone who either a) didn't follow the program to a tee (doing the exercises 2X a day, each day and using proper form) or b) overworked their facial muscles by doing the exercises too many times each day, thereby seeing some bad results. When personal trainers train people in weight lifting, they have them rest certain body parts by alternating their routines. This way, the body has time to rest and repair and build larger stronger muscles. Facercise works the same way, only the muscles of the face are much smaller.
3) FACERCISE, the right way
by Katharine a. Boyda on February 14 2000
100+ helpful votesI've been doing the Facercise program 7 years and still am learning new tips and techniques. FACERISE DOES WORK REMARKABLE WELL IF YOU DO THE EXERCISES CONSISTANTLY AND CORRECTLY.
Using the book and video together are the next best thing to private sessions with Carole Maggio. First, read through the book, then look at the video without doing the exercises.
Second, begin doing the exercises, making sure you do EACH STEP OF THE EXERCISE. For example, it's important on the mouth exercises to pull the mouth corners towards the back teeth.
After 7 years I still read through the book every month to be sure I don't get lazy about preforming them correctly.
Believe me, the amazing results are worth it! Middle age never looked so good...
4) This exercise programme really works
by SecondCherry on November 08 2006
40+ helpful votesI started Facercise about 14 weeks ago and the system definitely works.
The book itself is pretty irritating and gushily written, with lots of cute little homilies. As other commentators have said, it is also underillustrated and it can take a little while to work out exactly how the exercises are actually done. But don't let that distract you from the hard core of information it contains.
I worked up to the complete set of exercises gradually, by adding a new one each day and then practising the basic set for a month before moving onto the advanced exercises. I now do them once or twice a day, fairly faithfully. To start with I found some of them painful, especially those involving the jaw (I had slight TMJ), but they do get easier as you go along.
When I started, I had recently lost 33lbs in weight and my face was looking gaunt and drawn. This tired look disappeared within about three days and each day or week has brought a new improvement, with lines disappearing and loose skin tightening up. My face has regained a youthful freshness, and the colour and skin tone are also much better. People keep commenting on how well I'm looking. The strangest things are that for the first time in my life I actually have pouty lips, and my nose is definitely shorter and more snub - my face is actually changing shape, with the latest improvements being along the jawline.
My only regret is that I didn't discover these exercises years ago, but I am still grateful to have found them now. At 43 most people took me for about 38. But three months later, I would say I look about 33-34.
I cannot recommend this book highly enough.5) GREAT BOOK! ABSOLUTELY AMAZING RESULTS.
by Anonymous on May 05 2000
30+ helpful votesJust like the stock market. I put in a small investment and got a great return. I purchased Carole's book and read it from cover to cover. I really didn't expect to get the quick results in a few short weeks. But seeing is believing. I apply the exercises every morning before I go to work following the illustrations in the book. I am so impressed with the results, that I plan to purchase the video. I read in the review section here that the video greatly enhances the program.
I also want to point out that I am a hairdresser in Beverly Hills, CA, and I thought I had seen everyting when it came to plastic surgery, and all the new techniques that are out there. I saw a few of my clients and thought they had had their faces done. Not so. They were doing FACERCISE. That is how I was introduced to the program and have been doing it myself, and many of my clients have noticed a difference. I'm sold and so are many of my clients.
6) It works, with very little time and effort, you get results.

30+ helpful votesBought this book more out of curiosity than anything else. After having it lying around idle for a couple months I came across it one day and decided to give it a try. However I'm not too much into the beauty business so I targeted only the problem areas. Results were almost instant. My double chin has disappeared, my 'jowls' have shrunk and my fce looks more aglow. My husband has noticed a marked difference. My friends who had not seen me for a while have all commented on how young I look. The exercises are not easy to follow. I had to sort of figure them out step by step, I guess its because I'm not too familiar with all thse fancy names of the facial muscles, but definitely I would recommend this book and these exercises to anyone who wants to tone up their face. I'm 52 and look [if you can believe my friends] 35 or younger. When I told my cosmetologist I am 52 I could see the look of disbelief on her face.In less than ten days I had fantastic results.I spend maybe 5 minutes a day on these exercises because, quite frankly I'm not too energetic when it comes to this kind of thing.I did it only out of curiousity and I am really pleased with the results.I would recommend you apply a little facial cream before you start though.Thank you Carole Maggio, I can face the world with a radiant smile and I do feel so much more confident and I like what I see when I look in the mirror.I plan to do a couple more different ones, but right now I am more than happy with what I see.My husband feels so proud to show me off to his colleagues when they respond with disbelief when he boasts ..yep! been married 27 years...This may all sound vain but it is true.I am a much happier person and what you see in the mirror does truly affect all the other aspects of your life.
7) specific benefits for me
by K. Draper on February 27 2007
30+ helpful votesI give Facercise five stars, because, as many reviewers have already noted: IT WORKS. People are blown away to learn that I am 50 years old--most think that I am in my 30's. Some of this comes from genetics (like oily skin--it doesn't wrinkle as much). not from Carole Maggio, but her program HAS made a definite positive contribution to my appearance as well as my confidence. Here's what I've experienced: 1. My face feels energized and I feel more alert. 2. My lips have contour now. My small mouth now has muscles that give it more defintion and size. 3. The crease that runs from my nose to the outer corner of my mouth (called the "nasolabial crease") is virtually nonexistant. This change alone has made a huge and noticable improvement. 4. My cheeks feels firm to the touch, not loose and saggy. I have pretty good checkbones anyway, but I do the several check bone developing exercises Carole has, and mine are firmer. 5. Lip creases have ceased. The one I had is now barely noticable, and no new ones have developed. (lip creases are a dead-give away for age, I believe) 6. The loose, saggy skin under my chin is gone. This makes me very happy, because I HATED feeling and seeing a "turkey waddle" growing on my neck! 7. Another thing that always bothered me about my face is that I had hollow spaces under my eyes. I think my sunken eyes are related to my health issues, but nothing seemed to help until it started "Facercise". Now it's smooth, not concave and I feel muscle, not just bone under thin skin, when I touch my eye sockets. 8. TMJ: when I started the program, I had a lot of trouble with some of the chin exercises; I felt the creeking "sand" in my jaw, and I didn't have the range of motion to do these exercises correctly. To my surprise, I can do them with ease, and my jaw is better, too.
I've been doing "Facercise" for about 3 years now, but I began noticing a change within a week, just as she says. You need to find a schedule or routine so you can stick to it, because you'll notice it if you skip several days. I do once a day while I'm relaxing in the bath. I hope this review helps and that you can benefit from the program as much as I have!8) This book changed my life!

When I turned 30, I noticed that my skin did not have the same vibrancy that it had when I was in my twenties. Although I didn't have any wrinkles, I did notice that my skin looked slack, lacked vitality and I had to wear more makeup just to keep from looking tired. I tried every beauty product on the market, but nothing seemed to help. I stumbled across Facercise while browsing through the health and beauty section of my local bookstore. It seemed interesting so I bought it. I began to do the exercises immediately, eager to regain some of the youthfulness my skin had obviously lost. My friends and family thought I was insane. They would laugh at all the crazy faces I would make while doing my Facercises. But after a few weeks, no one was laughing any more. My skin looked radiant and alive. These exercises even gave my skin a healthy pink glow. Just like when I was in my twenties.
That was 6 years ago and I am thrilled to say that I look pretty much the same. No, that's not true. I look better. I am 36 years old and am continually mistaken for 26. My skin has no wrinkles, no signs of sagging. It just looks beautiful. I will continue to do these exercises for the rest of my life. I strongly recommend this book to anyone who wants to look younger without having to resort to plastic surgery or harsh chemical peels. The results are nothing short of incredible. Thank you Carole Maggio for your wonderful book.

20+ helpful votesI am a salon owner in Los Angeles and I have had a number of clients that have been talking about starting this program called Facercise. I thought it sounded a little strange at first untill one of my clients came in after I haden't seen her for about two months, I thought she had plastic surgery and asked about it. (she is a friend) She was excited to see that I could see a huge change in her face, and said that she has been getting compliments on how she looks from people in her workplace and everyone keeps asking her if she got a new hairtcut, new makeup, what did you do? This is proof enough for me that if you work out properly and consistently, your body looks great, so why not your face muscles too? I am starting the program immediately and am ordering the video as well. My salon now has the Facercise book on our reception table so all my clients can start to look and feel their absolute best. I know you can to.
10) Facercise changed my face & life
by maxine on January 08 2001
20+ helpful votesAfter celebrating my 53rd BD last year, I decided it was time to do something good for my face. I've seen too many women who don't look human after plastic surgery and wanted a more natural approach. Found the Facercise book and decided why not?
I followed the book and bought the video and found both very helpful in learning to do the exercises properly. That was 12 months ago and 10 years off my face!
Quite honestly, it took a few months to see all the changes, but my face today looks remarkably younger and fresher than it did just one year ago. The skin around my eyes is firm, my forehead lines are gone, my cheeks are lifted and my jaw is toned. I started out a bit skeptical and realize that this is how I've been conditioned to think. No more. Facercise works!
11) IT'S A GREAT PROGRAM
by GINA RAY on April 21 2000
20+ helpful votesI've been doing the FACERCISE exercise program for about 8 months now and I can honestly say that I have noticed improvement in my face. It's not dramatic, dramatic, but it is very noticable. I plan on continuing this routine for life. The book was valuable to me and very easy to read, but the video I purchased from the infomercial which runs on TV was also very beneficial.
I saw the review from the Reader from New Zealand and I couldn't help wondering why she kept doing anything that was making her face look like she (he?) described. That reviewer said that they looked horrible after six months. They must have been doing something terribly wrong or they aren't being entirely candid about what happened.
Also, Carole has her phone number in her book and also her address. Why wouldn't that person call Carole? She said she'd like to talk to her. I've called Carole once, when I had a question about one of her exercises. Though I've never met her, she did call me back and went over my question and answered it very professionally.
Reader from New Zealand, get your book out, look up the number for Carole and call her if you REALLY want to talk to her. That's how you talk to people. You call them. She also has an e-mail, cmaggio@mminternet.com E-mail her if you can't call her. She'll answer you. Maybe you'll feel better if you did that.
12) The book is interesting, but the video is easier to follow.
by Anonymous on September 03 2003
20+ helpful votesI love the Facercise system, but got the video first. I saw serious improvement in my hooded eyelids and double chin within 7 days. Have now been practising for nearly one month and continue to see progress. I decided to get the book because I am hooked on the system and wondered if there would be any helpful additional information - of which there was some. However overall if you're choosing between the book and the video for a kick start, I don't think you could beat the latter.
13) A MUST HAVE!
by An Enthusiastic Reader on March 31 2006
20+ helpful votesOriginal Review date: 03/31/06 - I have never seen a more effective exercise program of any kind as this is. After three days of doing Carole's exercises, I began to see some change. I bought the book first and was concerned about whether I was doing the exercises properly...and it was taking me a half hour and more to do them when they are supposed to take 11 minutes. I bought the DVD and it is great! If I had it to do over, I wouldn't have bought the book. I slip the DVD into my computer the first thing in the morning and have my exercises done in 11 minutes. Then I do it again in the evening. She did tell me that once a person knows how to do the exercises well, it is very effective to do them lying on the floor with your feet on the wall and knees bent for resistance. When I bought the DVD there were 2 CD's included, one for exercising on the floor and one for using in your car. I recommend this program to all! PLEASE NOTE: Today, 04/11/06, I feel I should correct one thing I said above. I would now buy the book as well as the DVD. I have found that I am referring to the book lately as Carole provides a lot of information that you later become more interested in. For one thing, she shows a diagram of all the muscles and their purpose. I started looking back to see if I was working the muscles I REALLY wanted developed. She offers information on ingredients of cosmetics that help in the anti-aging process. And she offers encouragement that helps to re-read on occasion. I really love this program and I think you will too. Each 10 minute session goes so quickly, and they become a part of your life. I am sure I will do this forever!
14) The Exercises Work!!
by Beverly Deem on May 28 2006
20+ helpful votesI recently became 62 years of age. Most people mistake my age to be 49-50...that's wonderful! I've been faithfully doing the exercises for about 4 years. I met up with the friend I hadn't seen for two years. The first thing she asked was "What kind of night creams and skin regimen do you use?...you look great!" My skin remains taut and I can wear a "perky" hairdo to match my facial appearance. It is my firm belief that when you feel better and look better, you do more fun things!! Thank you again, Carole!
15) Faithful Facerciser for many years
by Katharine a. Boyda on March 07 2004
20+ helpful votesI just finished doing my Facercise exercises. Started Facercising when I was in my mid-40s and my face/neck were heading south. I've had the great fortune of studying with Carole Maggio. I use her books and video to remind myself how to do the exercises properly.
Just celebrated my 57th BD and can't imagine what I'd look like without this easy and amazing program. Facercise lifted my cheeks to my 30-something level, filled in the hollow area around my mouth, have kept my eyes firm and toned, and took away that thin, chicken-looking neck that was making its appearance.
People don't believe me when I tell them my age, especially my gay male friends. Facercise is the fastest way to erase those telltale signs of aging in a natural way. I am eternally grateful for Carole Maggio and this remarkable program!
16) WOW
by Jennifer Jenson on May 12 2000
20+ helpful votesWow. I have been doing the exercises outlined in Carole Maggio's wonderful book and I am very, very happy with what I've accomplished so far. Judging form the overwhelming number of positive reviews in this section, it appears that others share my enthusiasm.
I got the video from Carole by calling her toll free number in the book. That helped a lot. Many of the reviewers say the same thing, so if you really want to do these exercises right, you really need the book and the video.
17) Great Results
by Happy Mac User on October 25 2002
20+ helpful votesThe book is good, but the video is best for really understanding how to perform the exercises. I have had remarkable, positive changes in my looks by regularly using the program, with many friends and co-workers commenting on how much better I look. The program is well thought out and put together.
Hats off to Carole for developing such a wonderful program!
18) Believers vs Skeptics
by Michelle on November 28 1999
20+ helpful votesI have been practicing Facercise for many years. I started out a skeptic because I was brainwashed to think only plastic surgery could improve my sagging face. I was wrong.
Facercise, as part of a healthy living plan, can tone and lift the facial muscles. But if you smoke, drink too much, and have a poor diet; it will all show up in your face.
My advice: Get the Facercise book and video, do not smoke or drink excessively, follow a healthy eating plan, drink pure water and this time next year you will not believe how great you look!
I'm 53 and know that looking good is possible at any age.
19) Definitely Amazing! ! ! ! ! Pam Leitzell - a big believer! ! ! ! !
by Pamela Leitzell on March 14 2007
20+ helpful votesAll of Carole Maggio's products are fabulous! I have the books, CDs and DVDs. Since using those I have even bought some of the skin products - which I love! I am 56 years old and recently had the honor of being chosen as one of the 10 finalists with More Magazine, out of over 16,000 women across the United States, for looking great over 40!!! I was actually the oldest one chosen! I was almost 16 years older than most of the beautiful women! And I was the only one that had used Carole's exercises! Everyone kept commenting about my skin - how beautiful and radiant I looked!
Last weekend I did an interview with More Magazine which will be in the June issue with all of our pictures. They asked me if I would ever do surgery as I aged. I said that it would not be necessary - ever! Not only is my skin now tighter, but it is also more radiant and energized than ever before! It is definitely better to take care of yourself naturally! We exercise our bodies and everyone believes in that!!! It makes even more sense to exercise your face since there are so many muscles there!!There are easily well over a dozen muscles in the face! Face lifts are very risky, can cause worse problems and do not necessarily have good outcomes, as well as not being permanent anyway!! Who wants to have surgery anyway! And there is no surgery that I have ever heard that can give a glow to your skin and maintain a true youthful appearance naturally!!
Additionally, if someone has TMJ or Bell's palsy the exercises can greatly, if not completely releave that; they need to make sure that the excercises are done correctly! One needs to make sure that they are using the muscle and not their jaw when doing the exercises.20) Great new book, but the video is just amazing!
by Anonymous on March 27 2003
20+ helpful votesI purchased Carole Maggio's Facercise book and really liked it. However, once I purchased the video, I really began to see results! You can't believe what a difference I saw in my face in just one week's time. That's doing the exercise routine for just 12 minutes a day using the audio cassette which comes with the video! I really enjoy having Carole's book as a "reference guide", but the video and audio cassette that accompany it are like having her right there in the flesh as your own "personal trainer!" The video guides you through all of the exercises, showing you the proper form and the audio cassette is like having Carole standing over you telling you to "Pump, pump, pump! In JUST 7 DAYS my cheeks have raised up on my face (no implants here!), my lips are plumped up, heh no collagen!, and my eyes look like I've had an eye lift -- a natural one! Gotta get the video/audio cassette to go with the book....they are the best!! Facercise....gotta love it!
21) It really works!
by Anonymous on June 09 1999
10+ helpful votesI tried this book after my husband saw on TV talkback that women were having better results doing face exercises than with plastic surgery, especially taking into account the risk of complications etc. We took 2 "before" photos, front and side. My complexion looked sallow, with dark rings around the eyes, sagging cheeks and the beginnings of a double chin. I am 40 and having recently lost about 37 pounds was starting to look a bit saggy, although I have few wrinkles. I took 2 similar photos two weeks after doing the exercises every day and the results are incredible. The sagging jowls have all but disappeared, the double chin has smoothed over, the rings under the eyes gone and the complexion is now light and dewy. If I hadn't taken the candid "before" photos, I don't think I would have recognized the dramatic changes that were taking place, as they happen a little day by day. If anything, these changes after 2 weeks were even more dramatic than the photos of clients in Ms. Maggio's book. The exercises are very scientifically formulated to exercise the muscles and not create more wrinkles.
I send the photos to my mother, an active woman in her sixties. She said they were amazing and almost unbelievable. Now I am going to send her a copy of the book!
22) Nasal Labial Folds Cannot Be Created By Facercising!
by Anonymous on March 27 2004
10+ helpful votesNasal Labial Folds Cannot Be Created By Facercising!, September 12, 2005
Reviewer: A Believer! (New York) - See all my reviews
I was checking out this site and the reviews for Facercise. I am such a proponent of Facercise and the new look it's created for me that I just had to put in my own two cents worth here! I want to address stedy "s t" who wrote that the Nasal Labial Smoother exercise CREATED lines on his/her face. I have to say that IT'S NOT POSSIBLE....PERIOD!!!! The exercise, which has you VISUALIZE ENERGY going up and down the nasal labial folds while forming a long narrow "O" with your mouth CANNOT CAUSE LINES TO FORM. That's just plain craziness! I also cannot see how anyone could possibly do that exercise incorrectly, because it's probably the easiest of the bunch to do! I noticed a change in my face immediately when I did it and even my husband, (who only does that one exercise once in a while) sees improvement right away when he does the exercise! So maybe stedy "s t" was not focusing in on that area of his face and just never noticed those lines creeping up before starting this program. It is true, however, that most peopole DO BECOME MORE AWARE of their facial flaws when they begin the program -- only because now they are focusing in on their face more. Before they probably never gave those lines a thought! Plus, improvements in other areas and not in this area? I doubt that very much!!! I couldn't be happier with my face since I found the Facercise Program. I say -- thank God for something that truly works!23) This really works!
by T D on October 10 2005
10+ helpful votesAfter doing these exercises for three months, I can honestly say that my chin is much firmer, my checks are rounder and the skin around my eyes have firmed. I can feel the individual muscles in my face and they have definitely improved in tone. This is a great program and it is such a great alternative to a face lift. It is natural and the results are real.
24) TAKE FACERCISE SERIOUSLY
by Jennifer Jenson on December 23 2000
10+ helpful votesI have been doing the FACERCISE exercise program for about a year now. I purchased the book - absolutely loved it. Then I purchased the video. Loved that, too. Actually, I think the video makes the exercise program easier to follow than just using the book because you can actually see Carole Maggio showing you, on tape, how to do the exercises. This was a tremendous help to me because I think you can probably do the exercises wrong if you don't know how to do them. I found that out when I started working out in my gym, before I got a personal trainer to help me.
I notice a definite improvement in my overall appearance in the year or so that I've been doing the exercises. I was kind of surprised to see one of the reviewers state that maybe the FACERCISE program might have caused lines in her forehead right away. That's silly. Lines don't appear ANYWHERE on your body right away. Ask any Doctor or Physical Trainer about that. Age causes those lines. Everyone also knows ( or should know) that exercising will postpone those lines, but no amount of exercising will keep those lines away forever. Maybe some people just have expectations which are too high to be realistic or maybe they just don't work the program wholeheartedly.
I also exercise in the gym regularly. I am in much better shape, both physically and cosmetically than I was when I started out with these exercise programs about a year ago. I think my body looks better and I KNOW my face does because I get compliments on it now. I didn't use to. I firmly believe that anyone who REALLY wants to make a difference in how they look can. But, you definitely have to make the commitment to go that extra mile. However, as someone once said, "There's not much traffic on that extra mile."
Carole Maggio, thank you for your great book and for making these face exercises available to all of us out here. I appreciate it and I know others do, too.
25) I love this program
by Mechele P. Tison on October 06 2005
10+ helpful votesI cannot recommend this program enough! This should be reviews of the Facercise book, but it ends up being a review of the program overall. I bought the book, read it, and then bought the video before even beginning the exercises. The video is helpful, I do not think I would have understood how to do the exercises correctly without it. It is not because the directions in the book are not good, but it is so much easier to understand when watching Carole do them.
I began this program 6 weeks ago. I took before pictures, then pictures at 2 weeks, and one month. I will take more monthly from now on. The difference is amazing. I am 37, and have recently had a second baby. My face had "fallen", I had jowls and an overall tired look. My eyes had become hooded. I just didn't regain my facial muscle tone after the weight gain and loss of having two babies close together. I LOOKED like the mother of two small children, just very tired. Needless to say, this was depressing. The pictures at two weeks were a HUGE difference. My eyes have opened up, the sides of my face toned up, my cheeks are raised, and my face has a pink glow that it has never had, even when I was younger. The results have gotten better as the weeks have gone on. I don't know if I look tons younger, but I do look much better, and not tired anymore (even when I am).
I do the exercises once or twice per day, and I do include a few of the advanced excercises in the back of the book. I look forward to continuing this program as I age!26) ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!
by ncdunlap on February 14 2006
10+ helpful votesI am absolutely amazed at the information in this book but even more so with the DVD that instructs me on how to Facercise. Not only have I refreshed my facial appearance without the pain and expense of plastic surgery, I look like me only way better and younger. My skin glows, my eyes are open and bright and I have a defined chin again. Having had a nose job that caused my nose to be CROOKED, I now have a straight nose. Yes thanks to the Facercise exercises, I have a beautiful flawless natural looking nose!!!Facercise is a miracle! The DVD provides more of Carole Maggio and her true technique, however the book was my first step. If I were to do it over, I'd skip the book and go straight to the DVD, play it and Facercise my age away (which is what I do every morning). This is a must have for everyone, male and female, teens to seniors.
27) Lip excercises work
by Anonymous on January 06 2000
10+ helpful votesMy daughter, a young teen without Lips, bought the book several years ago, and she now has very full lips. The photos made me think the excercises wouldn't work. My friend, who bought her lips from a surgeon looks really weird. They arn't soft, and they hurt her. Time for me to try the jowl ones. If it wasn't for my daughter's results, I wouldn't try because of those photos.
28) A NATURAL FACE-LIFT THAT REALLY WORKS
by Anonymous on June 27 1998
10+ helpful votesAs a 50-something year old woman, I have always believed in natural approaches to health and beauty. My face started showing signs of aging in my mid-40's---sagging jawline, bags under my eyes, and an always tired look. I DID NOT WANT COSMETIC SURGERY, YET FELT FRUSTRATED OVER THE LACK OF NATURAL TECHNIQUES TO IMPROVE MY LOOKS. I met a woman at a conference and we talked over the next two days. I made some comment about her age, assuming she was at least 10 years my junior. That's when she smiled and told me she was actually a bit older then me, but had found a facial exercise program that changed her looks and life. Well, I bought the book that day, and also ordered the video tape. Today, I can honestly say Facercise has made a hugh difference in how I look and feel about myself. People think I've had a face lift, and that's O.K., because I know that this natural technique really works.
29) Facercise works and I have the face to prove it!

10+ helpful votesI have been using Carole Maggio's wonderful program for about 20 months now. I cannot believe the changes I have made in my face and my life. I'm a 44 year old first-time Mom (my son will be 3 soon) and I've been told I look ten years younger than my actual age! I thank God every day for giving me Facercise. It's given me a new zest for life! The book itself is great, but the video really helps you see how to correctly perform the exercises. Plus, the audio cassettes, which come with the video package, act as your own personal trainer to really push you to work those muscles! I can't say enough good things about this program. It really works wonders!
Credible Critiques (1)
1) Very disappointing

50+ helpful votesAfter reading good reviews, I ordered this book. I think the concept of facial exercise is valid - but the book is very disappointing. Especially annoying was that "figure 1" and "figure 2" pictures showing how to do the exercises were often identical - showing none of the intermediate facial positions/expressions. In other figures it looked like only her finger had moved. It makes it impossible to be able to tell if you are doing the exercises correctly. A series of pictures showing each position of each exercise is called for to do them correctly. Maybe this was omitted to pull you into buying the video also.
I also found the before/after pictures useless testimony. They were taken in short intervals (like 6 days from start of program to "results"). The main difference between the before and after seemed to be that they smiled slightly "after" and wore darker lipstick "after".
I would recommend Timeless Face by Ellae Elinwood. This book offers detailed instructions along with clear pictures of the positions. An added bonus is that the woman demonstrating the exercises is not airbrushed into a wrinkle free 18 year old - you can actually see the lines on the face as she does the positions - which I found gives me a much better idea if I am performing them correctly. If you are interested in acupressure and Chinese face reading, the author incorporates these into her approach to facial toning.
Another facial exercise book to check into would be Facebuilding by Reinhold Benz. I would recommend this one if you are concerned about the exercises forming any new wrinkles in your face. This author shows how to position the figures to reduce the possibility of additional wrinkling. I would think you could use this finger technique with exercises from any other facial exercise program.
