1) But have you tried it?

140+ helpful votesI had amazing success with the program presented in this book. In two weeks, I lost 16 pounds, my skin cleared up, my eyes got brighter, my hair got shinier and bouncier, my energy level shot way up, and I just felt great. Gittleman's ideas are revolutionary, as well as biologically accurate. However, since I am HUMAN, I have to say that it is very difficult to follow the program for a longer duration (see the maintenance section). The foods are not altogether tasty, and there are no real allowances given for situations such as eating out, parties, holidays, etc. I think that in order for someone to follow this program and also have a truly diverse diet, one would need to do additional research. While I had great success during the two week detox period, I had a great deal of trouble integrating the maintenance portion with my every day life. Also, like many diets, it assumes the ability to cook every meal at your own kitchen, which is not usually the case for those of us who work and have busy, active lives.
2) WOW - A BEAUTIFUL BOOK THAT HAS IT ALL - DIET AND DETOX!
by Anonymous on February 21 2000
130+ helpful votesI first read about Ann Louise's Two Week Fat Flush on iVillage where it was getting over 5 million hits a month. I tracked the program down to The Living Beauty Detox Program and am so happy I did. This program and her seasonal detox programs really work. I have been on the Two Week Fat Flush for 10 days and plan to continue it for another 10 days. My inches have come off my tush and buttocks - places where I could never reduce before. Besides, I am not hungry and am not EVEN TEMPTED by sweets anymore. I am a true believer and hope this woman does news letters in the future.
3) Beautiful Cover, Beautiful Content

110+ helpful votesMy husband bought this book for me for my birthday. I have been doing the Two Week Fat Flush in preparation for the Spring Cleanse. I have lost 5 inches from my thighs so far. I AM NOT EVEN LOOKING FOR SOMETHING TO EAT, WHAT A MIRACLE. I keep this book next to my bed because the quotes in front of each chapter are so inspiring. Well Done..
4) Time for Living Beautifully!
by Charity on February 22 2000
80+ helpful votesI read The Living Beauty Detox Program and began the outlined programs approximately two months ago. I start every day with the "Living Beauty Elixer" and fiber cleanse supplement recommended in the book. This book establishes specific detox and diet programs for every season as well as an overall system detox called the Fat Flush. This program has been extremely successful for me and I continue to feel better every day without any major detoxification side effects! The Living Beauty Detox Program is an excellent read and is complete in its recommendations and how-tos. A definite MUST READ for anyone concerned with their well-being and overall health.
5) The Living Beauty Detox Program

60+ helpful votesWhat a valuable and exciting book to learn how to have beauty from the inside out. There are so many helpful ideas to look prettier and become healthier at the same time. I love the simplicity of the detox diet plans. I have started the one for Spring and I already look five years younger. I have had the opportunity to meet Ann Louise on several occasions and she is a living example of this program - she has flawless skin and looks about 25 years old. Ann Louise is a gifted author with a knack for finding the latest and best information to help me stay healthy. This book is a must read and must do. I am telling all my friends about it.
6) this is truth

50+ helpful votesI am suspicious of most books on natural nutrition and diet because they either promote 1)a quick fix or 2) a grin and suffer attititude; but this book is special. I find that my diet ebbs and flows, and this detox plan works perfectly with those natural tendencies. After a 2 week detox, I go to the maintenace plan which (for me) has a tendency to gradually fall apart. But alas, I am saved by the next seasonal detox diet. This program allows me to continually pull myself back together. I also appreciate the vitamin and mineral reference; my health food store is now becoming a place I can navigate through. I've found my path.
7) a guidebook for every woman no matter what her age
by A reader on February 16 2000
30+ helpful votesThis book is packed with information that every woman regardless of her age will want--and need--to know. There are easy-to-understand insights on how estrogen mimics affect our health and how many of the things we do and take add to the problem--and most importantly, destroy our beauty. I found the detox diet and beauty routines so helpful I'm giving both of my daughters the book as a present.
8) Read this book to gain energy and insight into your health!
by Karin R. Schumann on August 02 2000
20+ helpful votesOh I have read many books on nutrition and this is far and away the best: primarily because it makes sense! You begin with unsweetened cranberry juice in the morning and at the end of the day. This "Living Beauty Elixir" has become a sort of daily Zen experience of cleansing. In just 10 days I feel more energetic and my body feels softer and even a bit smoother. Give it a try!
9) Beauty does come from within!
by Mimi from Kansas on June 26 2000
20+ helpful votesThe Living Beauty Detox Program has encouraged me to look at ways I can take steps to feel better and enjoy life. After being on the spring detox program, my hair looks better, I've lost weight (in the right places) and my skin looks great. Ann Louise has done a superb job of making sense out of how we can feel young and youthful again. Thank you Ann Louise! I can't tell you what a difference this book has made in my life.
10) This is the answer for me!
by Anonymous on July 06 2000
20+ helpful votesThis book addresses physiological answers to beauty problems. I love the way of eating and am losing inches and weight. Eating like this is a pleasure. I feel as if I am doing something right for myself; I am covering the bases as best I can!
11) The Living Beauty Detox Program
by Dawn Page on June 15 2000
20+ helpful votesThis book is full of information that all women should be aware of. The book consists of information and guidelines on managing nutrition and simple ways to detoxify. After reading this book and incorporating the programs and supplements in my daily regimen, I definitely FEEL and LOOK much better (and I am only 27). I look forward to reading the revised, paperback edition which will be published soon. Thanks Ann Louise.
12) Great book
by Anonymous on September 19 2001
20+ helpful votesI tried this book in an effort to get back on track. There is a diet for each season and a fat flush diet. I lost inches in weeks on the fat flush. Believe me and try it, I have no reason to lie this book truly worked for me.
13) Really Works!
by M. Applegate on August 10 2006
5+ helpful votesI read this book at about the same time as Ann Louise Gittleman's "Fat Flush Plan," and both books were very similar, and very effective. Ms. Gittleman takes the time to explain - in layman's language - how food is used by the body.
The fact that she breaks things down by seasons adds a little variety. Good detail is provided on what to eat to achieve better health and especially how to detoxify your poor body.
I have given this book as a gift, it was so helpful.14) I was skeptical but it really worked great
by Cakebaker on June 05 2007
3+ helpful votesI really like that the detox are based on the season. That made a lot of sense to me. After I did the 3-day detox (Spring). I was so impressed with the results that I convinced my sister to try it and she was also very happy with the results. I followed the program pretty well, but did not like the pill-popping aspect (taking fiber supplements and supergreen supplements). Instead, I did my own legwork and research and did shots of wheatgrass in lieu of supergreen supplements and took herbal teas in lieu of the supplements she recommends. But for the most part, I followed everything else. It was pretty terrific. Never felt hungry. You may not enjoy the meals as much as I did (as a trained cook, I was able to improvise and make pretty creative dishes out of her ingredient list). For me, the worst part was the unsweetened cranberry juice, but I found that I started to enjoy it! I drink it all the time now. I will say this, I lost a few pounds and my skin looked great. Didn't really notice a difference in my hair! I'm going to try the summer detox next.
15) fat flushed
by Paula de la Cruz on November 22 2006
3+ helpful votesI did the detox twice. The first time I didn't exercised, but I didn't have the energy either. The second time I exercised, used a pinch of fleur de sel in my meals and I added a spoonful of lentils at dinner. The diet worked just the same but I wasn't as miserable. The diets for each season are great to stay on track, but let's face it: who doesn't like like bread & butter...
